Bright Star (2009)
“Bright Star” tells the story of the brief love affair between the gifted 23 year-old English poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. Brawne and Keats are neighbors in Hampstead in 1818, when the story begins. Fanny is a seamstress who doesn’t care much for the poetry and is passionate about fashion; she has made a name, and money, for herself as a skilled maker of fashionable garments. On the other hand, poetry is the love of Keats’s life, but it doesn’t bring him any money. The illness of Keats’s younger brother draws them together. After asking Keats to teach her and he agrees, Fanny takes interest in poetry. Two young people begin a passionate love affair. When Fanny’s mother and Keats’s friend find out about the relationship it’s too late. After Keats falls ill two young people have to face separation.
